Install Hark on a Shopify theme

Install the Shopify app, save your company ID, and add the Hark experience to the theme you choose.

When you are finished

The Hark app is installed, the embed is enabled, and at least one Hark control opens the intended workflow on your storefront.

Before you begin

Your store’s permanent your-store.myshopify.com address.
The Hark company ID from your onboarding email or Hark account team.
A Shopify account that can install apps and customize themes.
A theme that supports app blocks for block-based Hark controls.

Enter your Shopify store domain

Enter the store's permanent Shopify address, which ends in .myshopify.com. Do not enter the website address customers use. Shopify will then open the Hark installation screen.

Expected result: Shopify displays the Hark app installation screen.

Authorize Hark

Shopify will list the store information and features Hark is asking to access. Confirm that the correct store is shown, review the list, and select the installation button shown by Shopify.

Expected result: Shopify opens the Hark for Shopify app.

Save your Hark company ID

In Hark for Shopify, enter the company ID from your onboarding email or Hark account team in the Company ID field, then select Save ID.

Expected result: Shopify displays “Company ID saved successfully.”

Enable the Hark JavaScript embed

In Shopify, open Online Store, then Themes. Find the theme customers use and select Customize. In the theme editor, open App embeds, turn on Hark JavaScript Embed, and select Save.

Expected result: The embed remains enabled after the theme editor reloads.

Choose and add a Hark block

In the theme editor, use the page selector at the top to open the type of page where Hark should appear. Add one of the Hark blocks below, enter the workflow identifier provided by your Hark account team when requested, and select Save.

If you are unsure, start with Simple Hark Button. It adds a standard button without changing the rest of the page layout.

Hark Get Help — image, message, and button section.
Simple Hark Button — standalone button.
Hark Inline Embed — embeds the workflow in the page.
Hark Feedback Icon — fixed feedback control.

Expected result: The selected Hark block appears in the theme preview.

Test the storefront

Open the storefront preview, select each Hark control, and complete a test submission.

Expected result: The expected workflow opens and the test response appears in your Hark workspace.
